I’ve been on vacation this week, so I had time to watch a movie I haven’t seen in years.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves

I can’t decide if it’s a bad good movie, or a good bad movie… but either way, it’s weird.

If you haven’t seen it, watch it. It’s built different.

Two things stood out:

Kevin Costner sleepwalks through the entire film. He doesn't even attempt an English accent. It's hilarious. I have no idea how he even got cast. It’s like he’s in a different movie.
Alan Rickman plays the villain and steals every single scene.

He’s sharp. Unpredictable. Every line is MEMORABLE.

“I’ll cut your heart out with a spoon!”

Rickman was so good… Costner reportedly cut out half his scenes out of spite because Rickman had too much main character ENERGY.

Anyway, here’s the lesson:

Rickman’s performance launched a second act for his career when he got cast in Harry Potter, a decade-long run in one of the biggest franchises ever.

Costner? This movie basically marked the beginning of his decline.

And online it's the same...
